Have you heard about the natural beauty benefits of applying apple cider vinegar & coconut oil on your hair?
I recently learned about how coconut oil will add luster, shine & softness to the hair. About how apple cider vinegar is full of antifungal properties to combat your worst case of dandruff. And hey, I know I could use some luster along with a less itchy scalp.
My trial run with each went as follows:
Firstly enter the coconut oil demonstration. There should be warning labels on coconut oil jars stating "never ever use coconut oil in the shower". Need I digress? Of course I will. Not realizing I had the genius option of melting the coconut oil on the stove before applying it, I proceeded to get into my shower with the coconut oil jar in hand. After giving my hair a quick wash I scooped up some coconut oil in one hand & plopped it on my scalp. Pretty much with the same force as being pummeled by a pigeon flying overhead.
Do you know what hot running water does to solid coconut oil? It liquefies! With the now liquefied coconut oil running down my face & into my eyes I'm bracing my feet against the bottom of the shower, desperately trying to massage this oil into my hair before I take a tumble & end up calling 911 for man down.
After much rinsing I'm quite sure I could grease any pan with my head & my tub is now permanently shellacked.
Secondly enter the apple cider vinegar demonstration. I guess the tartness of ACV could attest to why this wouldn't be something you would want in your eyes. Perfect example of hindsight 20/20! Once again I found myself in the shower attempting a brilliant beauty regime without first thinking it through.
After a quick shampoo & rinse I proceeded to pour the ACV over the back of my head. While the natural medicinal properties of the ACV took affect it was also seeping into my squinted eyes. The voice in my head was saying "don't open your eyes"! Tossing out the voice of reason I was now in the throws of my own self inflicted torture. Temporarily blinded & with the bottle in one hand I was searching for the cap lost somewhere on the shower bottom. Ah ha, there you are! Cap now firmly put back on & with eyes as red as a mid afternoon summers sunset this concluded another beauty routine.
All in all I have to say both methods are highly beneficial to a healthy head of hair. However, if you don't want the prospect of coconut oil dripping down your face during a workout or you don't want to smell like a salt n vinegar chip at the gym, I suggest you set aside some beauty days for some self indulgence.
